New school councillors chosen for year 2017-2018
Quick update about what the school council has been getting up to. In recent weeks we have been looking at how we can alert people to what has happened to our KS1 shed. In recent weeks it has been vandalised by someone during evenings after school. The school council has been involved in ensuring that the shed is now safe, tidied and resources have been removed from it. The school council has taken it upon themselves to alert other children and have begun the process of creating posters and letters to the local paper and councillors. Watch this space...
What a superb experience it was to meet the MP Jon Trickett and Mrs Kitchen (Councillor for Hemsworth). We had a number of questions which we put to our visitors and they gave some superb responses for us. Following this we were invited to write letters to Mrs Kitchen to invite her to attend one of our council meetings over the course of the year. We are very excited about this development!
The children have been hard at work in their school council meetings this week and last. They have met to discuss ideas of how to improve teaching in school. Also, they have been creating their Children In Need Posters! Look out for them in the windows.
School council met today to discuss any issues from their classrooms and gave many ideas about how they would like to improve the school. The children then created beautiful posters to advertise the MacMillan coffee morning on Friday 30th September 2016! We hope to see many parents there.
The school council was today announced in assembly. The children have attended their first meeting at lunchtime and have begun making posters for the schools latest charity event, Jeans for Genes day.
You can see who has been elected into the school council on the pictures section of the website.
